Product Line Manager - Pricing

VMware’s Cloud Native Apps Business Unit (CNABU) is looking for an experienced Product Manager who can leverage their understanding of the market and customers to drive pricing strategy for VMware's solutions for containers and Kubernetes. As Product Line Manager, you will partner with senior executives across sales, product, marketing, and finance to drive growth and improve go-to-market strategies for the portfolio of products within VMware’s Cloud Native Applications business unit. The role will have senior executive visibility and significant impact on the overall business.


  • Lead the development and operationalization of monetization strategies, packaging, and pricing to drive customer value and sustainable growth

  • Understand the technology, market, customers, and competition deeply to optimize VMware’s go-to-market strategy, including channel partnerships and competitive positioning

  • Be the expert on open source monetization strategies, including which capabilities VMware should build in an open source or proprietary model

  • Collaborate with engineering and support teams to assess the cost to deliver solutions and optimizations to the business model

  • Evaluate partnership opportunities and develop build versus buy assessments

  • Provide input on sales strategy and incentives

  • Establish targets and measure KPIs to track performance and enable continuous improvements

  • Partner with senior leaders and a diverse cross-functional team of marketing,engineeringand sales experts to bring industry leading solutions to market

The ideal candidate would have some orall ofthe following:

  • Prior experience as a product manager deliveringnew innovativeenterprise software products, preferably with experiencein infrastructure software, public cloud platforms,orcloud native technologies

  • Demonstrated thought leadership in monetization strategy, pricing models, and go-to-market strategy. Deep value-based packaging and pricing expertise, preferably insubscription, SaaS, and open source business models 

  • Track record of leveraging qualitative and quantitative dataand hypothesis-driven analyses tosolve large, complex business problems and quantify business opportunities

  • Technical depth that enables you to deeply understand the problem space and earn the respect of exceptional engineers

  • Able to communicate effectively, develop compelling recommendations, and influence internal and external partners

  • Ability to drive key initiatives to successful outcomes in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment

  • Bachelor’s in business, engineering or computer science (MBA a strong plus) – or related industry experience (including management consulting, product marketing, or product management).
