Job Role and Responsibilities:

The Digital Marketing Specialist will sit within the Americas Digital Marketing team, which executes social media, content syndication, web personalization, email nurture, and omni-channel campaigns to deliver top of funnel leads and event registrants for the Americas sales pipeline. This person will have exposure to all areas, while assisting primarily with paid and organic social media tasks, including campaign planning, copy writing, content creation, and reporting, supporting both NORAM (North America) and LATAM (Latin America) regions. This person will help drive innovations leveraging various social channels and tactics such as webinar/event promotions, customer story amplification, employee advocacy, video promotions, social selling, blogs, helping build out an influencer program, and demand generation marketing programs. This person will also collaborate with the Corporate Digital, Global and Field Marketing teams. The role includes the following:

  • Social media support for NORAM and LATAM webcast promotions
    • Social post copy writing based on event abstracts
    • Create tracking links for all webcasts to ensure accurate reporting and schedule organic social posts on Salesforce Social Studio
    • Post content to the employee advocacy portal daily
    • Mockup Instagram Stories aligning to overall strategy
    • Deliver post-event recap reports to share results and learnings with stakeholders
  • LATAM and Brazil blog posting and maintenance
    • Upload new posts for online events & news
    • Keep events calendar up to date
    • Amplify customer story content
  • Create social media kits for employees, influencers and partners
    • Create social media content to be leveraged by a variety of stakeholders on their own channels to further Americas Marketing goals
  • LATAM organic social media support
    • Look for new content to post on LATAM specific social media channels every day/week from multiple sources
    • Create cadence of posts aligned with regional priorities
      • Amplify blog posts on social
      • LATAM demand gen posts leveraging social kits
      • Events (VMworld, online events, local events)
      • Customer story content
      • Leverage & promote existing product YouTube videos
    • Track results (reporting), learnings and change/adapt accordingly


  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Communications, or relevant field of study (Spring 2020 grads preferred)
  • Fluency in English as well as Spanish and/or Portuguese is a must
  • Social media savvy, and familiar with various channel capabilities (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.)
  • Analytical skills (qualitative and quantitative) to collect and report metrics and identify trends, issues, or other relevant information
  • Professional experience or internships in marketing, sales, communications, or analytics
  • Proven success working and adapting in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
  • Detail oriented, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A proactive self-starter, team player, information seeker with the confidence to take ownership
  • Strong Excel skills, proficient in PowerPoint
  • Available to start in May/June/July 2020

Preferred Skills:

  • Active on social media with strong personal brand on multiple platforms
  • Experience with Salesforce, Eloqua, or Tableau
  • Ability working with cross-functional teams, balancing multiple projects at once with different stakeholders
  • Fascination with information technology and its use in business
  • Technical knowledge or knowledge of VMware products
  • Experience executing paid and organic social media demand gen campaigns and understanding KPIs
  • Innovative and creative problem solver, thinks outside the box
  • Highly responsive with exceptional stakeholder management skills
  • Experience successfully working in a remote team environment
  • Experience as a VMware intern/co-op
