Role Description:

Responsible for managing and developing a consistent operating framework and partner marketing program across the Japan partner ecosystem, which includes both strategy and program delivery and required operational support.
Responsibility for working with the Japan VMW Channel and Japan VMW education organization to reach their revenue goals, through developing dedicated programs that will drive pipeline, enablement and thought leadership/awareness with key distributors, channel partners, system integrators, alliance partners, and other companies in VMware’s partner ecosystem.

Key responsibilities include:

•Develop relevant strategic Go to Market plans for distributors, channel partners and Si/SO partners in Japan, in conjunction with the global partner team to ensure delivery of consistent worldwide partner & alliances programs with fully localized for Japan market
•Work with the country marketing director and APJ partner director to provide an initiative roadmap for delivery of consistent “Best Few” integrated programs that are mapped to the Competency and Capability Heat Map Model in Japan
•Work closely with VMW global/APJ marketing team to manage the development of marketing programs and initiatives to drive and deliver the partner enablement & deliverables

•Lead the team to Implement these programs with measurable results in high quality leads, marketing pipeline, and effective follow-up through our partners.
•Ensure comprehensive and effective use of distributor, regional and alliance MDF (Marketing Development Funds) to deliver marketing lead and pipeline objectives, including operational processing and compliance of the new MDF program and localization of required materials
•Reporting measurement and tracking of the execution of all localized partner marketing programs and initiatives in Japan include;
•Achieve marketing ROI targets from channel (1x coverage)
•Ownership of control and tracking of co-op budget
•Implement programs to acquire channel partners against target
•Ownership of all partner communication
•Ownership and implementation of all partner enablement activities working through country partner marketing managers for in country execution

Required Skills:

•More than 5 years experiences in partner/channel marketing and management roles in Japan. A strong understanding of how the IT partner landscape operates through experience in working in an enterprise software or leading IT company
•Preferred experience in running and marketing education and enablement programs for partners is also required
•Ability to build Go to Market Program Models in conjunction with partners – including the ability to initiate and drive fundamental changes in partner marketing strategies, including ability to expertly analyze business issues, strategize and prioritize key actions and drive to resolution against VMware’s requirements
•Confidence and gravitas to engage with, communicate and influence large partner organizations at senior director level and act as peer and trusted adviser
•Strong presentation skills with an ability to present VMware value proposition to external Audiences, including the partner community
•Dedication to providing prompt, reliable service and responsiveness
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionality in a matrixed environment

Ideal Candidate Profile/Desired Background:

• BA Degree or equivalent required, MBA or equivalent preferred
• Solid years IT marketing or sales experience in a partner environment required
• Strong Microsoft Office skills required
• Make it happen attitude

• Excellent interaction skill with Sales managers, SE managers
• Enthusiastic and self-starter mindset
• Good team player and strong influencer, and strong leadership to drive staff
• Ability to present at board level
• Strong problem solving capabilities at a strategic level
• Capable of understanding the company’s strategy and implement it within the context of the partner community
• Keen desire to work in a dynamic, innovative environment
• Good understanding of how to penetrate into Japan SMB market

• Fluent in Japanese, and business level in English
