About the Team
The Storage I/O Performance Engineering team is part of the central Performance Engineering Group in VMware to help building high performing next generation scale out storage solutions. The team is primarily focused on the data path performance engineering of vSAN, ESX Core storage stack and also engaged in developing performance analytics solutions for various VMware products. You’ll be part of a bright engineering team that has an open communication, empowerment, innovation, teamwork and customer success culture.
Work closely with a mentor on a project involving data science, ML/DL and statistical techniques and performance engineering. Work involves parts of building a platform for machine learning applications and various analytics applications. You will gain hands-on experience building ML applications as well as platforms that enable creation of such pplications. You will also gain great exposure to various aspects of performance engineering in cloud as well as various VMware products and debugging techniques used in those domains. You will learn building performance tools for analytics and debugging.
Requirements and desired skills
- Pursuing MS or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent
- Domain expertise in virtualization and performance engineering is highly desired
- Strong analytical and debugging skills
- Excellent programming skills in C/C++ and scripting language, e.g., Python
- Exposure to and deep interest in data science/analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence etc.
- Basic Linux system administration skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
