Business Development Manager, China Telecom

Job Description

  • Business Unit Business Development Manager - The BDM's goal is growing revenue and market share of VMware's products.

Responsibilities include:

a) act as BU's single point of contact for sales organization in China,

b) identifying strategic opportunities, planning and executing activities that capture those opportunities,

c) Engage partners and execute programs that result in significant sales and market visibility for the BU products. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, work well in a team environment and comfortable working hand-on in all aspects of go-to-market.

  • This is an individual Contributor role


  • Responsible for building and managing internal and external product promotion programs
  • Good relationship with CTRI (Beijing, Guangzhou and shanghai), Planning/Network/ Technical Department, ICT department, Security department, China Telecom ECloud company and SI company
  • Track BU performance in terms of revenue, customer adoption, and market share by working closely with the sales and marketing organizations
  • Lead Sales Operations activities including regular interactions with the field, deal registrations, discount approvals, ELA approvals, and quota calculations.
  • Evangelize BU message to VMware internal organizations, EMC, and partners
  • Interface with partners to identify and execute OEM/Resell and other partnership options
  • Share ideas, leads, and support to team members


  • 10+ years of experience in related software or Telecom industry
  • Experience in Telecom Industry (CT Background), OSS/BSS software development (ISV), professional services and sales
  • Must have experience in selling in or around ‘platform’ sales with a solution sales and service sales focus (or Global Services)
  • Consistent performance in top 10% of peer group
  • Proven ability to build relationships and effectively sell to senior executives and CxO
  • Strong presentation skills as well as the ability to build and present high-quality product demonstrations to executive audiences
  • Strong customer-facing and relationship building skills
  • Strong self-starter with a proven track record of accomplishment
  • The ability to work effectively in a team setting and manage multiple large opportunities is critical
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master is preferred
  • Excellent Communication skills
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is preferred
